At Bethel Pawn, gold and silver offers are based on the current live spot price β the real-time market price for precious metals traded on commodity exchanges worldwide. There is no guessing and no arbitrary numbers. You can look up the spot price yourself before you walk in.
Spot price is the current market price for one troy ounce of pure gold or silver. It changes throughout the trading day based on global supply and demand. When you bring in gold, we calculate your offer based on the spot price at the time of your visit, adjusted for the karat purity of your piece.
Karat measures the purity of gold. The higher the karat, the more gold content, and the higher the value per gram.
We use two methods to verify gold content on-site. Acid testing involves applying a small amount of acid to a scratch from the piece β the reaction identifies the karat. Electronic testing uses a probe that reads metal content without scratching the piece. Both methods are fast, accurate, and done in front of you so you can see exactly what we find.
Broken chains, mismatched earrings, bent rings β it does not matter. Scrap gold is worth the same per gram regardless of what it looks like. We buy all of it.
We are a coins and bullion specialist. Silver is priced using the same live spot price method. For coins, we assess both melt value (silver content) and numismatic value (collector value). Some coins are worth significantly more than their melt value β we will tell you if yours is one of them.
Just bring your gold or silver pieces. No sorting or cleaning required β we handle everything. A valid photo ID is required for all transactions.
